Geology and Geophysics are the scientific study of earth’s crust & structure. The study of earth is divided into two areas: geology, which is the physical aspect of studying earth’s crust and geophysics which are the scientific aspect of studying the Earth’s structure and composition. Geology mainly deals with the observation of earth’s surface by direct observation of naturally occurring rocks, usually in borehole or surface exposure, & the analysis of these observations by scientific methods. Geophysics involves the study of earth’s interior by using instruments to detect the presence of magma, or underlying heat energy. Geology can be divided into the physical aspects of looking at rocks & the formation they contain, and the physical aspect of studying the Earth’s surface. It is also a study that looks into the composition and structure of the Earth. The study of earth should include both geology and geophysics. For example, when a meteorite strikes the surface of the Earth, geophysicists look to analyze the rock layers beneath it to try to determine the nature of the meteorite. When ocean sediments are erupted and become layers of rock, geophysicists study the composition of these layers to determine the formation of dinosaurs and their ability to survive. While these examples are obviously just scratching the surface of what can be learned about the Earth’s interior, it is a very important part of how we understand our planet.
Studying the Earth’s interior is often done through the use of special devices called sensors. These sensors can be used to take an in-depth look at the Earth’s surface or to search for the evidence of geothermal activity. In addition, some geophysicists study the effects that earthquakes have had on the Earth’s interior. The science of geology consists of a number of different areas. Some of these areas are sedimentary; others are into the study of tectonics or the movement of various liquids through the Earth’s crust, and many other areas are involved with both science and technology.

These tools include computer databases, tracking devices, and GPS systems. They also study the composition of the Earth, how it is built, and how it is interacting with its surroundings.
Geology and geophysics have helped us understand the Earth better. In addition, these professionals play an important role in keeping our cities and habitats safe from natural disasters like earthquakes and tornadoes. While most of us think of floods and earthquakes when we hear about natural disasters, geophysics plays a huge role in protecting the Earth from damage too. For this reason, you should always listen to what geophysicists and geologists have to say when it comes to their research and studies.
